The History of Improv. ·

|

One time, a great while ago, there was an ancient world where all comical performance had to be thought of before-hand by great playwrights then painstakingly written on heavy clay tablets by the soldiers-of-the-conquered now-turned-slaves.

Now I’m not implying that the Greco-Roman empires crumbled entirely on this one fact, but perhaps if those self-proclaimed genius playwrights had spent a little less time thinking of a humorous anecdote and a bit more time fighting the insurgents in the far-reaches of their empires, Latin wouldn’t be such a dead language.

See where I’m going with this?

Oh yes. Thanks to improv, comedy made up in the moment and entirely free of all heavy clay tablets, America (God bless it!) has more time to spread democracy and the taste of refreshingly crisp Coca-Cola to every end of the world! So support your country; come to a show and laugh at us. Laugh heartily and never look back. Remember that if push comes to shove, you’d be a little less willing to declare jihad when those capitalist pigs are throwing heavy clay tablets!
