About Improvidence ·

For the Squares:
Improvidence is Brown University’s oldest improv comedy student group. We perform about twice a month during the academic year to large, very energetic audiences from across the university. Aside from our own shows, Improvidence is also available for other events.
Combining long form and short form improv styles, Improvidence’s comedy comes from the wide variety of perspectives each member of the group brings to the performance. We try to find new styles of humor with each generation of members brought in. Depending on the size and need of the group, Improvidence auditions are usually always held early in the fall semester and occasionally early in the spring semester.

For the Circles:
We’re an improv troupe based out of Providence, Rhode Island made of Brown and RISD students. Imagine, if you can, taking a theatrical production, cutting it to about half the length, removing costumes, props, scripts, and the theatrical experience of the cast. It would be piss-poor, but that’s the only way in which it ISN’T like Improvidence. Get it? Shows are generally an hour, and boisterous—come ready to yell loudly. Auditions are usually held once a year in the first few weeks of school, but y’know, we play it by ear. That’s probably a good phrase to keep in mind about the whole IMPROVidence thing, actually.
